Digitising precision agriculture and livestock breeding

The Regional Cluster (RC) North West Europe is responsible for the monitoring of the region and the allocation of funding schemes to projects that might offer opportunities for leverage within the context of SmartAgriHubs (SAH). With this goal in mind, it identifies all relevant Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) in North West Europe and establishes synergies between Competence Centres (CCs) and Flagship Innovation Experiments (FIEs).

By doing this, the RC bridges the gap existing between farmers’ needs and the new products developed by technology providers, creating a sustainable strategy to facilitate the digitisation of precision agriculture and livestock breeding. As a result, CCs and DIHs work closely together in order to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and farmers with their access to innovative infrastructure within a self-sustaining ecosystem of companies, research institutes, universities and policy makers at the service of innovation both within the region and beyond. In brief, the RC supports the farmers in their adoption process of innovative technology and offers guidance to relevant start-ups during their journey to the market, by establishing communication channels between all stakeholders of European agriculture.
